- Alim has an excellent conducting technique and a good feeling for the orchestra. He knows well what he would like to achieve ideally during the rehearsal, and, which is more important, he knows how to find effective and efficient ways of getting there. … This quality helps Alim earn the respect of the orchestra musicians, many of whom are older than he is. Many soloist performers are happy to perform with the orchestra conducted by Mr. Shakhmametyev because the accompaniment skill is something not every conductor can master. Alim Shakhmametyev is one of those conductors with who a solo performer can be confident and comfortable. This is why in many respects he has earned true admiration of singers. The skill to analyze the score and present convincing interpretations allows Alim Shakhmametyev to earn the respect of his musicians and interest his listeners. It is the skill of interpretation combined with other positive qualities that forms the basis for professional growth of the musician. Alim Shakhmametyev has every chance to become a world-class conductor.
Maxim Shostakovich, December 26, 2005

- He perfectly hears the score showing even hidden connections. … Alim's musical interpretation is filled with deep meaning and logic. … In his interpretations Alim follows the best examples, never copies others but expresses his own understanding. … Such conductor truly is a find for a composer.
Prof. Boris Tischenko, May 22, 2001

- Tchaikovsky's Symphony in e-minor … was percept unreservedly. Alim Shakhmametyev is a romantic conductor, and Romanism is a substance that never become obsolete, because a men in his nature is a romantic!
"The Folks of Caucasus", # 48, December 2000

- Shakhmametyev conducts in a style that's somewhat old-fashioned here … he also knows exactly what he wants as well as how to get, be it a tempo change, a decrease in volume or a change in pronunciation.
"The Grand Rapids Press", October 7, 2000

- I would like to express my sincere admiration forward a remarkable, most talented conductor Alim Shakhmametyev. In my opinion all that he achieved in his short creative career demands deep respect.
Prof. Vladislav Uspensky, August 12, 1998

- He is a talented musician … made great success as a symphonic music conductor having proved his outstanding talent of a conductor. He conducts accurately and expressively. His impact over the listeners is hard...
